ABOUT GEORGIE

I never planned to end up here

I left the Czech Republic chasing something I had no words for yet.

I moved through Europe, spent time in Mexico, tried London and Birmingham and the south of Spain. Every place taught me something and every place also whispered that it was somewhere else.

I applied for a working holiday visa in Canada and missed out first round. So I applied for New Zealand, got it straight away, paid for it and booked the flight. A month later the Canadian visa came through. I had already chosen.

I landed in Gisborne. Three beaches and a pace of life that finally felt like something I could breathe in. The Māori culture found me there too, and something in it recognised something in me.

That was twelve years ago. I never left.

Hamilton is home now and it is where this work continues to grow.

Matua Jirka Czech born holistic bodywork and healing practitioner Hamilton Aotearoa

I am Czech and I carry that with me.

The old European ways of working with the body, herbs and hands and the understanding that what lives in the body arrived slowly and will leave in its own time. Aotearoa has shaped me too, through the tikanga of Romiromi, through the people who have trusted me with what they carry, through twelve years of listening to what bodies are actually asking for rather than what a protocol tells me to do.

I read what is in front of me and I respond to that. Sessions can be uncomfortable and they are meant to be. The body does its best work when it is invited past the edge of its comfort, held carefully within the edge of its safety.

Matua

Recently a client called me Matua.

In te reo Māori, Matua means uncle, a trusted family member, someone who holds knowledge and shares it with the people who come to them. I am still sitting with that. It arrived through the work, through the trust people have placed in me over the years, through showing up honestly in the room with whoever walks in.

That is what I am here for.

Who finds their way here

People who are ready.

People who have tried other things and feel somewhere in their body that something needs to shift. People who are tired of carrying the same weight, the same patterns, the same old stories. People who are willing to take one small step and then another.

Small changes allow us to shift our future. The big releases happen in the room. The life changes unfold in the weeks that follow.

If something here feels familiar, reach out. We can start with a korero, a first conversation, two people seeing if we are on the same page.
